Join us at 6pm, Tuesday 23 April to open Gaza: the Soul of Souls, an exhibition by Justice for Palestine, focused on Gaza, the people, our martyrs and a place where on it are, as Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish says, those who deserve to live.

To quote the manifesto What is the Future of Art? by the Palestinian Pavilion in Venice, “Palestine is the world in its future tense.” Is this a world we want to live in? The exhibition looks at decades of occupation in Palestine, and dives into histories behind popular symbols of resistance. Gaza: the Soul of Souls is a celebration of Palestinian life, community, and a call for collective efforts to work towards a future void of colonial violence, guided by the Soul of Gaza.

The term “soul of souls” is a phrase strongly linked to the current violence in Gaza due to the tragic emerging video of child victim Reem Nabhan’s grandfather holding his deceased granddaughter, farewelling her after she was killed, and calling her “Ya rooh al rooh” (the soul of souls).

Ngā mihi nui Diwan for catering this event.
