Nau mai, haere mai! Please join artists Eve Armstrong, Josephine Cachemaille and Gabby O’Connor to open their exhibition Everybody SoundSystem with Housewarming – an all-day dance party in Enjoy Contemporary Art Space.
During the two weeks before their housewarming, the artists will be in residence at Enjoy, making new work together to fill the space with material textures, light and sound; transforming the gallery into a sensory environment for dancing and play. The housewarming party will be from 11 am to 6 pm, featuring some of the artists favourite DJs and friends playing the music they love to dance to.
Everybody SoundSystem revisits the hope and optimism catalysed by the underground dance party scene. Their project is about friendship and the transformative potential of creative collective endeavour. The artists approach the dance party as a locus for resistance and repair, as a mechanism for coping with the anxieties and uncertainties of the current climate, and as a generous and generative place to experience attachment and connections. Thanks to Almighty for providing refreshment.
