Nature/gesture workshop with Sena Park
Saturday 31 Jan 2026
1:00pm
Sena Park, I touch the surface, we draw wild beauty, 2025-26.
Join artist Sena Park in creating written and visual responses to prompts about our evolving relationship with nature.
This workshop with artist Sena Park aims to create an open dialogue with participants, who will be led by Sena in sharing experiences with nature before creating their own simple written and visual responses to her prompts. Nature/gesture will be guided by the themes in this exhibition, such as our evolving relationship with nature and the blurry line between natural and artificial environments.
From 1pm—2:30pm you will be encouraged to share kōrero and transform objects from everyday life into simple artistic expressions. Please bring your own small found objects from your garden or home to use during the workshop, though we will also supply paper, pens, and some craft materials.

Sena Park is a Korean-born New Zealand artist working across painting, mixed media, and installation. Her practice is grounded in analogue, labor-intensive processes and has recently expanded to include sensory media.
Park’s work often begins with familiar subjects drawn from surrounding nature, architectural and cultural environments, which she reconfigures into non-functional and deliberately imperfect forms in her installations. Her nomadic studio life shapes the materials, forms, and scale of her work.
Park completed an MFA from Elam in 2015. She has since undertaken residencies in Mongolia, Thailand, China, Japan, and New Zealand.
